It seems like a new website pops up every week promising to provide writers with a platform to find work, get training and advice or find tools. Writers Work claims to be an all-in-one website for freelance writers to “launch their dream job” online.

Writers Work Website ScreenshotFreelancing is a popular gig that can certainly transform into a full-time career if one has enough interest and the relevant skills to do so. But can the Writers Work website really help newbies start from scratch and build a career in freelance writing?

Writers Work isn’t a free website. If you wish to make use of its services, you have to pay for them. This gives us all the more reason to review and assess if it is actually a credible resource or not. People are scammed every day, especially in job searches…

We, therefore, wanted to see if we would ever recommend this website to our readers, so we decided to investigate it and put together a detailed Writers Work review.

What Exactly Is Writers Work?

Writers Work is a website that promises to be an all-in-one resource for freelance writers. It not only posts job listings but provides online courses and tools for writers to excel in their careers as well.

It is designed to make things easier for writers as they embark on their freelance writing journey. This website, however, requires you to become a member to get access to all its features.

It is not free and would cost you $15.00 a month. There is a lifetime membership available for $47.00 but this amount increases over time. We found that it might increase up to $94.00. We don’t know how, when and at which level does the fee increases though.

All we know is that the fee of $47 is allegedly a “discounted rate” as shown below:

Writers Work Pricing

You can get any kind of writing job on through the Writers Work website. You could find article writing, blogging, social media content, website content, transcribing jobs and much more.

While they claim that you can earn from $20.00 to $65.00 per hour, we would like to keep your hopes low, especially if you are a newbie.

Writers Work offers online courses for training as well. These courses cater to writers just starting out and move towards more advanced skills later. There are some premium courses too. You have to pay for them separately and they are non-refundable.

However whilst it is annoying to find out that you do have to pay more money once you are inside, there is a little bit of an upside which is that you can keep these courses even if you decide to cancel the membership.

On that note let’s take a closer look into how it all works to find out if there are any other hidden fees & to find out if it’s really worth paying money in order to get access to writing jobs which you can potentially find elsewhere for free…

How Does ‘Writers Work’ Work?

As explained in the previous section of this review, you have to get a membership to access all the features on the Writers Work website. To tell you the truth, it is loaded with all types of amazing features that writers can benefit from.

The dashboard is well designed and navigation is very convenient. You can easily trace all the features and the tabs are very well-defined.

Now, on to some of the most prominent features of this website and how they work…

Job Search

There is a specified area where they post jobs for writers. Writers Work mostly take jobs from other notable lists and post them on their website. If you choose to apply for these jobs, you are directed to the parent website which originally listed the job.

They basically just make it easier for you to scout jobs because they draw them in from all the good websites. You can filter out job results to find what exactly you need. You can also enable job alerts which would send you a notification every time a new job is posted.

Submission Section

You can find publications to make a pitch. If your pitch is accepted, you can write for that publication and earn money. This is a great feature that lets writers find good publications and get their work published.

Marketplace

Writers Work also enables employers to find writers through their website. So, you have a dual opportunity to find work. You may land on a good offer by a search for jobs or some company may find you in the marketplace and hire you.

Online Portfolio

You can develop your portfolio including information about yourself and your expertise. It also includes samples of your work. This feature is very productive because it increases employability.

Text Editor and Project Manager

The text editor is a well-designed and fully equipped layout which lets you write with all necessary tools and provides grammar, spell, readability and other types of checks too. The project manager lets you manage your documents and make sure you work effectively.

There are also training programs, some premium tools and many other great features which make this website a great resource, of course for a good sum of money. We would certainly prefer it to be free, but given what they’re offering we can say why they’re charging a joining fee.

Is Writers Work BBB Accredited?

Some other Writers Work reviews online state that it is indeed BBB accredited, but our own research determined that it isn’t. The BBB profile for Writers Work says that it is not accredited & as shown below it has a terrible rating:

Writers Work BBB Profile

That is alarming, and that brings me onto…

My Verdict – Is Writers Work a Scam?

We were not able to trace out any definite scams linked to this website, however, there are a lot of reviews and articles calling this website a scam. We found some reviewers saying that some ads were misleading in the past which made it sound like this website itself was hiring which isn’t true.

We found nothing in our Writers Work review to support the claim, but we can’t negate it either. We also think that this website is more suitable for newbies if anyone does wish to join. It may not prove very helpful for experienced freelance writers in our opinion.

Also, whilst their fee is justified in the sense that they do indeed provide some training in return for your money… I personally think that paying a fee to access writing jobs or training is pretty unnecessary.

The reason I say that is because there is already plenty of training available for free online should you need it – and there are many job marketplaces like Freelancer or Elance that you can get access to for free. You don’t need to pay money to start out as a writer.

Also, I have even put together my own guide which shows you how to make money writing. If you’re interested in learning how to start your own blog & make money (for free) then you can check out my guide here.

I mean sure starting your own blog is not necessarily a writing “job” and you won’t make money from it instantly, but by writing for yourself on your own blog you can potentially build up a much larger income than you would be able to by working for others.

And if you’re open to other ideas aside from writing for making money then you can check out these legit alternatives too.

But whatever you decide to do I just hope that my review of Writers Work here has given you a good insight into how it all works & hopefully it has helped you decide if its something you really want to pay money for or not.

If you still happen to have any further questions or comments though then, of course, don’t hesitate to leave them below. 🙂

A Better Alternative

The sad truth is that unfortunately most of the programs promising to help you make money online are scams. I can say that confidently after exposing over 500+ of them here on this blog.

But the good news is that even though most of them are indeed scams, there are actually some very good programs in amongst them - some programs that can truly help you to earn money.

And out of all of the legit programs I've seen, the one I would recommend the most to anybody looking to get started online is Commission Academy. In my own opinion, that's the best place to start.

At Commission Academy, you'll be provided with everything you need (including the training & tools) to begin earning real money by promoting products or services for companies like Amazon online.

The best part is that there's literally no limit on the amount you can earn with it & the process is pretty simple which means that it's absolutely perfect for people that don't have much experience.

Some wealthy affiliates even earn as much as 5-figures per month... Or more!

Amazon Earnings Example

I mean don't get me wrong, that kind of money won't just fall into your lap without doing any work... But the harder you're willing to work at it, the more you stand to earn with it.

So if you're looking to get started but don't know which route you should go down or which program you should join (and don't want to waste money on bogus things that don't actually work), then I'd highly recommend checking out Commission Academy first. You can learn more about it here.
