Can You Really Make Money Posting Links For Companies Online? (My Experience)

Almost every single day I receive a comment or email from visitors to my blog asking “can you really make money by posting links for companies online?”…

And in short, the answer is yes – you can.

But whilst you can indeed make money by posting links for companies, it’s not quite as straight forward as it sounds & there are some very common (and dangerous) pitfalls to watch out for.

So to help you avoid the mistakes (and to help you avoid getting scammed) I’ve put this blog post together outlining step-by-step how you can legitimately start making money by posting links for companies online.

Plus I’ll also be sharing details of my own personal experience & explaining how you can even turn it into a full-time gig (earning in excess of $100+ per day) just like I managed to do myself.

Avoiding Link Posting Jobs Scams

As I mentioned above, it is indeed possible to make money by posting links for companies online, however, there are also many scam websites claiming to offer fake link posting jobs.

So to help you to avoid getting scammed I figured I’d first explain a little more about these link posting jobs scams so that you know how how to tell a real link posting job opportunity from a fake one.

I mean, typically it’s pretty easy – the scam websites will make the opportunity seem WAY too good to be true, but at the same time, some of them can also be much more cunning.

So here are a few of the red-flags to look out for when considering a link posting job opportunity (and these red-flags all suggest that the so-called “opportunity” is probably just a scam):

Upfront Payment

You should never, ever have to pay money upfront in order to get access to a link posting job opportunity because by posting the links, you’re helping the company with its promotions.

If a company claims that it needs an upfront payment for you to get access to the link posting job opportunity then it is almost certainly a scam. Run a mile.

Payment Per Link Posted

It is extremely rare (almost unheard of) for a company to pay you an amount based on how many links you post. It just doesn’t typically make sense for a company to operate like that.

You see, even if you post 1,000 links online there is no guarantee that they will be visited by anybody, and if nobody visits them then the company won’t generate any profits.

So why would they pay you for posting links that aren’t going to generate them any profit? They wouldn’t! If a company is promising to pay you on a per-posted-link basis, it’s highly likely a scam.

Legitimate companies will generally pay you for each sale that is generated via your links or they will pay you for each action a visitor takes (such as submitting an email address).

Too Good To Be True

If the link posting job you’re investigating simply sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. It’s certainly possible to make good money by posting links but let me set 1 thing straight, it’s not easy.

If a company promises that it will be very easy to make money or that you will begin making money very quickly (or both) then again, it is highly likely a scam that should be avoided.

How To Actually Get Paid For Posting Links Online

The proper terminology for “link posting” is affiliate marketing, but it’s essentially the same thing (just fancier wording)… And it’s possible you might have already heard of it.

Nearly every company with an online presence these days has something called an affiliate program, which enables you to sign up (for free) and promote their products for money.

That even includes companies like Amazon, too.

In fact, here’s a screenshot of Amazon’s own affiliate program (named Amazon Associates) as an example:

As you can see, the banner on their website states that you can earn up to a whopping 12% in advertising fees (commissions) for promoting their products online.

You simply sign up, get provided with a unique link to their website to share & then you earn money if anybody clicks through that link & then happens to buy something.

So as an example, you could copy the link, send it to a friend & earn a commission if they clicked it and purchased something.

However…

Whilst some companies will still let you do affiliate marketing like that (typically the smaller companies), many of the bigger companies don’t like you doing it that way because it often results in people spamming their links all across social & ruining the brand’s reputation.

In fact, sharing your links in such a way can actually get you banned from many affiliate programs.

So, being realistic if you want to earn money by posting links online as an affiliate then you will need to set up a website, but thankfully nowadays it’s very easy to do (and can even be done for free).

Plus, having a website is also a much better way to make money from affiliate marketing because by having a website you can actually get people coming to you, rather than you having to promote to them.

Hint: This means that your income can become completely passive!

You see, when you publish content online the search engines (such as Google, Yahoo & Bing) automatically detect it & list it within their results as an option for people to click on.

So as an example, let’s say you recently bought some duct tape called Gorilla Tape & you added a review of it to your website. Google (and the other search engines) would then list that review in their results, as shown below:

This means that now whenever somebody searches for a review of Gorilla Tape, they’d come across the review that you published on your website as an option to click on.

And this then gives you the opportunity to promote the tape to them via your affiliate link & earn some money, which is exactly what the author of the Gorilla Tape review has done (as shown below):

At the end of his review, he’s posted a link for people to purchase the Gorilla Tape on Amazon & if any of the readers click on it & make a purchase, he’ll get paid a commission.

So from a small one-time effort of writing a review & posting a link inside it, he’ll now be able to earn commissions for many years to come regardless of whether he’s awake, asleep, or even away on holiday.

And the best part is that there’s absolutely no limit to the amount of these pages that you can create either. The more you create, the more money you stand to make.

But of course alongside that, there are also several other ways that you can earn money by posting links online.

For example, you could sign up as an affiliate & then pay to advertise the links on other websites (though this typically involves a little more skill, and of course a starting budget).

Or you could also create content on sites like YouTube & leverage those platforms to post your links (providing of course that you keep it non-spammy as we mentioned above).

How Much Can You Earn By Posting Links?

The sky is the limit when it comes to making money by posting affiliate links online, there’s absolutely no limit on the amount that you can earn (and some people literally make tens of thousands per month by doing it).

It’s all dependant on 1 thing – which is you!

The harder you work & the more you promote your links, the more money you stand to earn. Plus if you follow a method like my review method that I mentioned above then your income could even become passive, too.

However, the one thing I will point out is that it does indeed take quite a lot of work (so posting links shouldn’t be seen as an “easy” or “fast” way to make money).

In fact, there isn’t such thing as a “fast” or “easy” way to make money… If there was, then everybody would be rich (and they’re not).

Looking for an easy or fast way to make money will just result in you getting scammed, so with that in mind if a link posting job opportunity sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Looking at link posting realistically, you should not expect to see any earnings within your first 90 days as initially, you must first learn how to actually effectively promote your links.

Your first few months will simply be a learning curve, but then from there, you can expect to begin making some commissions & begin building up your income.

And how big you build that income is entirely up to you. You’re in control.

But just to show you an example of what’s actually possible, here’s a chart produced by Jerry which recorded his first 10 months earnings as an affiliate marketing promoting links:

As you can see, initially there is not much action… But from month 4 onwards his income begun to grow like a snowball & by month 10 he was earning over $6,000 per month.

It’s safe to say there is a LOT of potential with affiliate marketing, and a lot of room to earn BIG.

Does It Cost Money To Get Started?

Joining an affiliate program is free, or at least it should be. There is only ONE legitimate affiliate marketing company that I know of that charges a joining fee, and that is Affiliate Window.

Typically if a company requires you to pay a fee prior to getting access to a “link posting job”, it is likely a scam.

Either way, there is simply no need to pay money whatsoever because there are SO many affiliate programs out there that you can quite easily find an alternative that you can join without payment.

However…

Whilst joining affiliate programs is free to do, realistically in order to actually see good success with affiliate marketing (link posting), there are some additional tools you’ll need.

These include things like web-hosting, research tools, etc, and generally, these tools will cost money… Not a lot of money, admittedly, but they’ll cost money all the same.

The good news though is that you don’t need to pay money for these tools right away. In fact, thanks to my free guide you can actually get started completely free of charge.

How I Make a Living By Posting Links Online

I actually briefly touched on this a little further up in this blog post, but I use an extremely simple method to promote affiliate links that has actually enabled me to earn a full-time living online.

And the method is so simple that literally anybody can do it.

You see, all I do is write reviews on products that I’ve purchased (or plan on purchasing) & share that information online to help others who are also considering making a purchase for themselves, too.

Then, at the end of the review, I post a link that enables the reader to purchase the product if they decide that after reading the review that’s what they’d like to do.

If they purchase it, I get paid a commission – at absolutely no extra expense to them.

And not only is this a really simple method, but it’s also a method that’s entirely free to do.

You see, when you publish content online, search engines like Google automatically discover it & list it within their results as an option for people to click on & read.

So if you publish a review, that review will then get listed in the results of the search engine as an option for people to click on whenever they search for something related to it.

This then means that if they click on your review, read it & then click on any of the links that you’ve posted, you stand the chance to earn a commission if they make a purchase.

And once the review is published you can continue to make the commissions over & over & over again without any additional effort.

Pretty cool, right?
